Golden Tempo, the first full-length record from David Barber & Foxy John, will arrive later this year.
It started quietly in Louisville with a simple idea: make one good record with musicians I love. Then more songs began finding their way into better and better hands. Barry Thomas from Love Jones came aboard to produce. A remarkable group of players gathered around the sessions. The record eventually made its way to Josh Rouse, who mixed it beautifully, and from there to Geoff Pesche at Abbey Road, who will master it this summer.
None of this was especially planned.
That may be the best part.
It is a record about luck, memory, timing, foolishness, everyday superpowers, and the strange mercy of things arriving late but right on schedule.
A few songs, stories, and rough artifacts will appear here before the full record is released.
Foxy John, naturally, has been around the whole time.
More soon.
